While industry bodies continue to lobby for a halt to ongoing increases for arriving cargo, we are notified of a swathe of increases effective 1st July 2022 across national terminals for same.

It is published as a necessity borne from rising costs of operations within terminals and at de-hire depots.

The national average cost impact of Infrastructure, de-hire and wharf booking increases appears to be AUD 40.00 – 65.00 per container.  This will also impact on LCL cargo as costs will be amortised across all cbm within the full container load. We expect this to be in the realm of AUD 3- 5 per cbm dependent on the carrier.

At the same time, it will be of no surprise to consumers and importers of the rising costs of fuel and subsequently transport carriers have announced a national increase of the fuel surcharge to 26% from a previous level of 22%.

Unfortunately, these charges do not fall within negotiation framework and as such there is no platform for us to rebut these charges. We shall have no choice but to pass these rising costs on per shipment. In the meantime, we continue to support our local industry bodies to lobby government on your behalf for transparency and regulation of these costs.

Our account management teams will update client tariffs per state to capture these costs and shall be available on July tariff updates.

Should you have any queries on the above subject matter please contact our account management teams directly.
