BULLETIN : Seasonal measures for Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) – 1st September 2025 to 30th April 2026

Upcoming BMSB Season , Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, for Australian imports.
The BMSB season is based on shipped-on board date between 1 September 2025 and 30 April 2026 Inclusive, as indicated on the Bill of Lading.
BMSB compliance will attract shipment fees from carriers /providers, and we shall update quantum once received from relevant parties.
The requirements are largely consistent with last season. Key updates are outlined below. For full details, please refer to the DAFF publication available via the hyperlink at the bottom of this email.
- The Republic of Korea and Japan have been added to the emerging risk countries list; goods manufactured in and shipped from emerging risk countries still remain subject to random inspections, though treatment is still not required.
- Target high risk goods arriving as airfreight from United states of America and China will be subject to random inspection.
- Addition of a NEW offshore BMSB treatment option Ethyl Formate
- A new application process for both in transit goods and goods that have been rolled
The BMSB management measures apply to:
- New and used target vehicles, machinery, and parts exported from BMSB-risk countries during the BMSB-risk season.
