Global container and airfreight volumes have taken a hard hit in the short term due to events originating from the outbreak of COVID-19 .

Supply chains have been impacted due to factory closure , labour shortages, transport shortages along with vessel and flight disruptions.

It’s a lot to factor in and of course no one can foresee health crisis events of this nature. As importers and as logistics operators , our mutual supply chains are acutely exposed to events outside of our control and there will always be limits to actions we can take to mitigate their impacts. The COVID-19 outbreak has had significant economic and social impacts globally and as companies look to address those impacts we find ourselves in a fluid landscape where change is somewhat immediate .

At Specific Freight we enjoy close ties with our partners across the globe and during recent events we have been abreast of operations with daily updates.

Suffice to say we have sufficient CFS and airport coverage, to uplift on the first available flight or vessel ,any cargo that is ready to depart origin ports. With fluid schedules we are taking a case by case approach to ensure your team have the best options presented for final choices.

We are aware that schedules are changing and that some tranship ports are also experiencing congestion and delays due to this  *off schedule* impact.  A further complication is developing in some ports of equipment shortage.

It is also to be expected as manufacturing volumes increase that demand for space will increase. In a market severely depleted of cargo space this will most likely impact heavily on cargo rates for both air and sea for end of March and into April.

We will endeavor to keep you abreast of this changing landscape as the effects continue to impact other areas outside of the China region. For the short term , please have your teams work closely with our customer service departments to ensure the best outcomes during this time.
