While the Industrial action has calmed for the time being in Australia the outcomes from action to date continue to negatively impact on vessel schedules to Australia.

Shipping lines have deemed it necessary to omit ports and cancel schedules in a bid to recalibrate their shipping cycles. This in turn has seen backlogs of containers in South East Asia ports and is having a particular negative impact at regular tranship ports .  Many carriers are now refusing bookings to Australia from these regions while they observe the Australian conditions and await stable timelines .

This is sure to impact negatively on importers as space will now be critical during what is annually one of our busiest shipping periods.

Specific Freight have lengthy and robust relationships with all prime carriers and while we will continue to garner all possible carrier support to meet volume requirements, there is no doubt the entire market may suffer negative impacts from the results of the industrial action at such a critical time in Australia’s shipping cycle.

Our teams continue to work with all available resources to meet these challenging times for the best outcomes for you, our clients.

For particular shipment information we encourage you to speak to our teams for clarity if necessary.
