Sydney is currently experiencing severe weather conditions due to a rapidly intensifying low-pressure system off the east coast. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the metropolitan area, forecasting heavy rainfall, damaging winds, and the possibility of thunderstorms.

 

Industry stakeholders have shared the latest information on how the current severe weather in Sydney is affecting operations.

 

 

Sydney Airport

    • OPERATIONAL – Sydney Airport remains operational though a large number of flights have been cancelled

Port Botany

  • VESSEL MOVEMENTS SUSPENDED – Some vessel movements in and out of Port Botany have been suspended until further notice.

Terminals

      • Patrick: Imports/Exports: CLOSED – Patrick have advised they are closed until further notice
      • DP World:  Imports/Exports: SUSPENDED – DP World have advised that some slots have been cancelled
      • Hutchison Ports: Imports/Exports: Operational – with exception of Block 6

Empty Container Park Closures

  • Several empty container parks across the port precinct have already ceased operations due to safety concerns. This may also impact upon de-hire availability in coming days.
