BULLETIN: VESSEL SCHEUDLE DELAYS & PORT CONGESTION ACROSS ASIA

Dear Valued Customer,
We would like to advise customers of ongoing vessel schedule disruptions and port congestion across several key Asian gateways following recent typhoons and severe weather events impacting the region. Typhoon Dolphin, which made landfall in eastern China, has resulted in widespread operational disruptions, including evacuations, transport interruptions, and adverse conditions across the Yangtze River Delta region. These events have contributed to significant disruptions and delays to vessel schedules, with major ports in China experiencing vessel bunching, berth congestion, and operational challenges that continue to impact carrier networks and supply chain reliability across Asia.
Industry reports indicate that recent typhoon activity has created a significant backlog of vessels throughout North Asia, with congestion expected to continue as terminals work through accumulated volumes and carriers seek to restore schedule integrity. Delays are not limited to the directly affected ports and may continue to impact downstream ports, transshipment hubs, equipment availability, and connecting vessel services across Asia-Pacific trade lanes.
Several carriers have issued operational updates and continue to adjust vessel rotations, port calls, and network schedules in response to the ongoing disruptions. Customers should anticipate potential changes to ETAs and transit times as carriers implement recovery measures.
Current reports from port operators indicate that while terminals have largely resumed operations, berth waiting times remain elevated in some locations as vessel queues are cleared and backlog cargo is processed.
To help minimise potential supply chain impacts, we recommend customers:
- Allow additional lead time for both import and export shipments.
- Monitor shipment ETAs closely, as schedule changes may occur with limited notice.
- Review inventory requirements and supply chain contingencies where possible.
- Engage with your account manager regarding any critical or time-sensitive cargo.
Our team is actively monitoring carrier advisories and port conditions and will continue to provide updates as further information becomes available.
Should you have any questions regarding specific shipments, please contact your usual representative.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
